A little bit about my business!
La Chulapa Designs gets its name from the ‘chulapa’ women of 19th century Madrid, who were these working class women with a typical sense of fashion, cheeky humour and lots of attitude.
Madrid is also where I first promised myself to help out small businesses in whatever way I could. Although plenty shut down during and right after the pandemic, I could see many owners were struggling with their small businesses way before.
This desire to support small businesses in a meaningful way culminated in teaching myself graphic design, and hence LA CHULAPA DESIGNS was born.
The core belief at La Chulapa Designs is that when a small business is branded well, it instantly starts connecting with its ideal audience- which gives it the necessary leverage to not just thrive, but outshine others in a competitive marketplace.
A little bit about me!
I initially trained as a pharmacist, decided it wasn’t for me, then crossed over to graphic design.
I’m a huge creative at heart. I’m big on illustrations and bold colours.
I’ve lived in India, Australia and Spain- with each country having a huge influence on me and my creative process.
My favourite place in the world is Madrid.
Being aligned with my values and helping others do the same is extremely important to me.
I love supporting small businesses because of their uniqueness as well as their interest in engaging with the local community.
I have always enjoyed storytelling in various forms, and through La Chulapa Designs, I love using the visual medium of brand identity to tell important stories of small businesses and their one-of-a-kind products that otherwise would get ignored in the age of mass consumerism.
